Samuel Hauka
Memoirs of a Cowboy
I was born in Taber Alberta, February 7, 1924, and passed away, January 14, 2020. I nearly celebrated my 96th birthday.

Due to Alzheimers, in my final years, my cognitive skills and ability to speak became very poor. Fortunately, as my mind started to fail, I journaled regularly to record my favourite life stories.

My life has been a rewarding adventure. I have served my country as a farmer, a devoted father, an entrepreneur, and a soldier. I found and married my sweetheart during WW2 - the event that brought us together. Our family lived in 5 Canadian provinces, and made many trips across our great country. My sweetheart, Cora (Livingston) Hauka and I built an amazing life together. This life included homesteading on the prairies, running a successful sugar beet farm, and starting the Horseshoe J Dude Ranch.

This site contains my memories, written during my 80s.
The stories and pictures you will find here have been edited and uploaded by my family. We hope you enjoy the journey. You can subscribe to the site if you want updates when more of my stories are posted.
